On Thursday night the Labour Group brought a motion to council to get support for zero tolerance approach to littering.

The Liberal Democrat administration voted against the motion by adding an amendment which took out –

πŸ—‘ A commitment to a zero tolerance approach to cleanliness in our public realm.

πŸ—‘ A commitment to awareness campaigns, and visibility to tell everyone to stop dropping litter, to stop dog fouling

πŸ—‘ A commitment to report back to the council at 6 monthly intervals

πŸ—‘ An ask to create a dashboard which tracks performance and success at ward level

This was an honest motion for the benefit of our residents, now needed more than ever following the green bin tax (we’ve already seen an increase in fly tipping) and its simply unfathomable that the Liberal Democrats could vote against this.
